Dr. Hana Bekele

Dr. Hana Bekele is a general practitioner in internal medicine at Dar Al Kamal Hospital in Sharjah. She has more than five years of experience in primary care and hospital medicine, with a focus on preventive care and on helping patients manage chronic disease over the long term.

She studied medicine at Haramaya University College of Health and Medical Sciences in Ethiopia, graduating as a Doctor of Medicine in 2020. She then worked for nearly three years as a general practitioner at Mohammed Akile Memorial General Hospital in Afar, where she handled trauma and medical emergencies and focused on stabilising seriously ill patients. For the following almost three years she was a general practitioner at Alert Comprehensive Specialized Hospital in Addis Ababa, managing acute and long-term heart, lung, hormonal and infectious conditions.

In clinic she takes a careful history, examines the patient, orders and interprets blood tests and imaging, and agrees a treatment plan, then follows up long-term conditions to check that treatment is working. She also provides wound care and minor surgical procedures, and spends time explaining how to stay well and prevent illness.

She holds eligibility letters from the Dubai Health Authority and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, and American Heart Association certification in basic and advanced cardiac life support (BLS and ACLS). She speaks Amharic and English.
