About Dr. Majid Zohrabi
Dr. Majid Zohrabi is a neurosurgeon and spine surgeon certified by the Iranian Board of Neurosurgery in 2001. After residency at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Zohrabi spent more than two decades operating on the brain and spine at hospitals in Sari and private hospitals in Tehran, before moving to the UAE. Dr. Zohrabi now sees patients at Dar Al Kamal Hospital in Sharjah.
The main focus of Dr. Zohrabi's work is disc herniation, a common cause of neck pain, back pain and sciatica in which disc material presses on a nerve. Dr. Zohrabi is a pioneer of non-surgical, interventional treatment of disc herniation in the Middle East and CIS countries. From 2008 to 2020 Dr. Zohrabi trained one-on-one with Professor Jacque Theron, the founder of Discogel therapy. Dr. Zohrabi has performed large numbers of these intra-discal injections in the cervical and lumbar spine and has trained and certified other neuro and spine surgeons in the technique. Earlier training in spine implantation was under Professor Thierry Bouillet.
For patients, this means an honest discussion of options. Many disc problems settle without an operation, and some respond to less invasive treatment; others need surgery to relieve pressure on a nerve or stabilise the spine. Dr. Zohrabi believes in planning care around the patient and involving you in each decision, so a consultation covers your symptoms, an examination and your scans before any treatment is proposed.
Dr. Zohrabi holds DHA and MOH certificates to practise in the UAE and has presented at national and international medical and neurospinal conferences.
