Organic Peeling in Sharjah

What is organic peeling?
Organic peeling is a peel in which the active work is done by ingredients from plants rather than by laboratory acid solutions alone. Two plant-based approaches are used in aesthetic practice. Enzyme peels use fruit enzymes, such as those from papaya and pineapple, to dissolve the bonds that hold dead surface cells together. Herbal peels use a paste of finely ground plant material that is massaged into the skin; the tiny plant particles work their way into the surface layer, stimulate circulation and prompt the skin to shed and renew.
The feature patients rarely expect is that a herbal peel works mechanically as well as chemically. The massage presses microscopic plant fragments into the skin, and the skin clears them by renewing its surface over the following days. This is why the face can feel prickly or tight, like a mild sunburn, for a day or two after treatment.
Organic peeling is performed in-house at Dar Al Kamal Hospital, Sharjah by the aesthetic department. It is a separate treatment from the acid-based peels described on the chemical peels page, and the team explains which type suits your skin.
Who needs it
Organic peeling suits people who want to refine the texture of their skin and prefer a plant-based treatment. It is commonly chosen for:
- rough or uneven skin texture
- enlarged-looking pores and oily skin
- shallow marks left after acne has settled
- a dull complexion with mild uneven tone
- skin that has thickened slightly from sun exposure
A herbal peel can be adjusted in strength by changing the amount of paste and the length of the massage, so the same treatment ranges from a light refresh with little visible flaking to a stronger peel with several days of shedding. Deeper or raised scars respond to other approaches described on the scar revision page, and active, inflamed acne is treated by dermatology first.
What happens
Your first appointment includes a skin assessment and, for people with sensitive skin or plant allergies, a small patch test on an inconspicuous area. The treatment itself follows these steps:
- Cleansing and degreasing to remove oil so the peel spreads evenly.
- Application: the enzyme mask is spread over the face, or the herbal paste is massaged in with firm, circular movements. The massage produces warmth and prickling, which build as it continues.
- Resting time: the product stays on the skin for a period set by the practitioner.
- Removal: an enzyme mask is rinsed off; with a herbal peel, the excess paste is removed and a portion is left in the skin to keep working.
- Calming: a soothing cream and sunscreen are applied.
You go home the same day. With a stronger herbal peel, the skin looks flushed on the first day and begins to flake or peel from around the second or third day, starting around the mouth and nose.
Preparing for it
Plan the timing. If you choose a stronger peel, book it before a few quiet days at home, away from weddings, photographs or Eid visits. Pause retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs for several days beforehand, and avoid facial waxing, threading and laser hair removal on the treated area in the days around the peel.
Tell the team about allergies to plants, pollen or nuts, any history of cold sores, recent sunburn, and medicines that make the skin sensitive to light. If you have taken isotretinoin tablets for acne, mention the date you stopped, since a waiting period is needed before any peel.
Afterwards
Leave the face alone while it peels. Let flakes come away naturally and resist the temptation to pick or scrub, which can leave dark marks. For the first evening, the practitioner may ask you to avoid washing the face so the herbal particles keep working; after that, use lukewarm water, a gentle cleanser and the moisturiser you are given.
Sun protection is essential while the new skin is exposed. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, reapply it outdoors, and keep out of the midday heat. Skip gyms, saunas, swimming pools and the beach until the peeling has finished, since sweat and chlorine sting fresh skin. The team tells you when makeup and your usual skincare can restart.
Contact the hospital if you develop blisters, oozing, spreading redness, swelling around the eyes or signs of infection such as yellow crusts, or if a cold sore appears after the peel. **Go to the emergency department if you have swelling of the lips or tongue or difficulty breathing, which can signal an allergic reaction.**
Cost and insurance
Organic peeling is a cosmetic treatment and is usually self-pay, as UAE insurance plans generally exclude cosmetic skin care. The cost depends on the peel strength and the number of sessions planned for your skin. Dar Al Kamal Hospital, Sharjah can explain the costs before you book on 06 599 7777.

Frequently asked questions
What are the risks of organic peeling?
Organic peeling can cause redness, stinging, prolonged peeling, irritation and, less commonly, an allergic reaction to a plant ingredient, a cold sore flare, infection or dark marks, especially in medium to darker skin. Being plant-based does not make a peel risk-free, which is why a patch test is offered to sensitive or allergic skin.
Is organic peeling gentler than a chemical peel?
Organic peeling is not automatically gentler than a chemical peel. A light enzyme peel is mild, while a strong herbal peel can cause several days of visible shedding. The strength of either type of peel is chosen to suit your skin at the assessment.
How long does the peeling last after an organic peel?
The peeling after an organic peel varies with the strength used and your skin. A light treatment may cause only slight flaking, while a stronger herbal peel produces a few days of visible shedding. The practitioner gives you an expected pattern for the strength you choose.
Can I go to work after organic peeling?
You can usually go to work after organic peeling, since there is no wound or dressing. With a stronger herbal peel, visible flaking and a tight, prickly feeling for a few days lead many people to book it before a weekend or quiet days.
Who should avoid organic peeling?
Organic peeling is unsuitable during an active skin infection, a cold sore outbreak, open wounds, severe active acne, recent isotretinoin treatment or a known allergy to the plant ingredients. Pregnancy and breastfeeding should be mentioned, as some ingredients are avoided.
How many organic peeling sessions are needed?
The number of organic peeling sessions depends on your goal. A single light peel refreshes the skin, while texture, pores and marks usually improve over a planned course with the skin fully healed between sessions.
Can organic peeling treat acne scars?
Organic peeling can soften the appearance of shallow marks and uneven texture left after acne. Deep pitted or raised scars usually need other treatments, which are discussed at the assessment.
